We undertook this assessment to follow up on breaches of regulations identified at the previous assessment of the service and to review the previous rating of requires improvement. This assessment site visit took place on 28 and 29 January 2026. Pemberley Manor Care and Nursing Home is a care home that provides care and support for up to 75 people, some of whom are living with dementia, and or physical poor health. At the time of our assessment there were 73 people living at the service. At our last assessment, the provider was in breach of multiple regulations including person centred care, need for consent, safe care and treatment, staffing and good governance. At this assessment, we found improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of the regulations. At the time of our assessment there was a home manager in post who was in the process of registering to become the registered manager for the service. We spoke with 11 staff including the home manager, senior care staff, care staff, front of house, housekeeping, maintenance, service manager, customer relations, and administrative staff. We used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is a way of observing care to help us understand the experience of people who could not talk with us. People were protected from risk of abuse and risks to people were managed well. People were treated with dignity and respect and there were enough staff to support people to meet their needs. People had access to health and social care professionals when they needed them, and medicines were well managed. Care and treatment were delivered in line with best practice. Assessments were regularly updated to ensure they reflected people’s personal choices, cultural needs and preferences. The service was well led, and leaders were visible, approachable and engaged with people. Staff told us they felt supported by the manager.
During our assessment, we spoke with 9 people using the service and 5 visiting relatives. We looked at people’s care plans and records. People told us they felt safe, and staff treated them with kindness and respect. Comments included, “They [staff] are really really helpful, and they talk to me as a human being, of course I feel safe with them”, “They [staff] are always helpful and I’m confident in their skills”, “They [staff] are perfect you couldn’t get any better”, “Very well organised, they [staff] are doing a grand job”, and “Brilliant, we are such a mixed bunch and they [staff] keep us all happy.” People told us they felt safe and there were enough staff to meet their needs in a timely manner. People said staff treated them well with kindness and respected their privacy and dignity. People and their relatives spoke positively about how the service was managed and the care and support they received. People enjoyed the food and menus served within the service. People spoke positively about the activities on offer saying they enjoyed the range of activities, including trips out. People and their relatives told us they felt the service was well managed and the home manager was helpful and approachable.
